If it’s got Peace and Guitar in it I’m in.....

Hey guitar lovers, a raffle of a cool multiple-autographed guitar from Peace Talk Radio Paul Ingles co-founder, producer, editor, and host

Paul wrote to me to ask for little help on a raffle of a cool multiple-autographed guitar (by Bonnie Raitt, Lyle Lovett, Taj Mahal and more) that he’s in charge of delivering on.

The non-profit organization Paul set up in 2003 to produce the radio series PEACE TALKS RADIO is, like a lot of non-profits, struggling a bit in the post-recession climate. As a result of the economic uncertainties, one of their major grants wasn't renewed, another is in jeopardy. So they've had to get creative on fund-raising ideas and the raffle for this celebrity musician-signed guitar is their latest hope. Even if the guitar is not something you'd think you'd keep if you won, consider gifting it to a musician friend OR putting it on eBay where I'm guessing it could sell for $1000 or perhaps much more. $20 isn't much to help continue a radio program and website devoted to non-partisan talk about peace and maybe win this or one of the other cool prizes. I hope you'll follow the links and get a ticket or two or three today. It's easy with the Paypal links.

PS I met Paul in Albuquerque, NM during a Folk Alliance conference in 1998, at the time he was producing a holiday CD called ‘Do You Hear What I Hear’ with Judy Collins as the host. My version of “Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” is on the CD and plays every holiday season on NPR stations.

Update

Peace Guitar winner announced, and as a fund raiser Peace Radio did very well.  I'm glad that I participated even if I didn't win a guitar, we all won much more....

I received this email from Peace talk Radio:

I wanted to personally thank you for participating in the raffle to raise

funds for Peace Talks Radio, the radio and online series about peacemaking

and nonviolent conflict resolution.  Thanks to your participation, and

hundreds of others, we raised almost $7500 that will help us continue to

produce these programs.   We've already purchased another guitar to raffle

off in 2011.  In fact the amazing singer/songwriter Patty Griffin will be

the first to sign it - tonight!

Those of you who won prizes will be hearing from us separately and we'll

get you your prizes within the next 3-4 weeks.  You can check your

number(s) against our winners list online:

http://www.goodradioshows.org/raffle.htm.

We hope all of you will want to stay connected with our work by visiting

our website often (www.peacetalksradio.com).  If your local public radio

station does not carry the series, please write or call them to request

it.
